• Morning Mindfulness
Nick Kientsch
Guided body scan and mindfulness practice.
Nick brings his 28 years of experience of meditation to the teaching. In this hectic world we can so easily loose touch with our body, getting lost in thoughts and worries. By bringing attention into noticing the sensations in our body we open to the wisdom our body has to inform us and help us heal.
Each session starts with an optional guided morning shoulder massage to wake our body up and ease out any tension. We'll then sit or lie down and Nick will guide you through your body. After resting into this deep awareness of the body as sensations Nick will lead a meditation using the breath as an anchor for our attention.
You do not need to stop thoughts to meditate or enter some special state. Instead this approach guides you in noticing where your attention is, being aware when it wanders, and then guiding it back again and again as you notice it has wandered. If a difficult thought or worry comes in, then you can turn to that rather than try to push it away, gently feeling in to where you notice it as a sensation in your body. Then breathing in to that place and holding it as a sensation. This gives a freedom that fighting thoughts cannot give us.
Time: 8:30 - 9:30am Suitable to anyone who is new to meditation.
