  • Sacred sexuality consent policy

    1. All workshops and play-spaces to include a specific explanation about consent, by the facilitator or a team member. This will include a reminder that consent also applies to what participants are being asked to do in the workshop and an invitation to ongoing tuning in by all present.
    2. We acknowledge that consent is not only relevant in sexual activity but in all activities and all physical and energetic connection.
    3. All facilitators, team members and participants to be asked to agree to the consent agreements.
    4. We acknowledge that no space is entirely "safe" from all triggers or potentially hurtful interactions and that there is often a need for assistance with processing, recovery and boundary setting/speaking out.

    We are here with the intention to create positive references for everyone when it comes to setting boundaries and getting our needs met. But intention alone is not enough; please follow these initial guidelines and help keep this space as safe, friendly and brave as possible.

    • Practise on-going consent: Check from time to time (with yourself and other/s) if what’s happening is still aligned with needs and desires. Be present with yours and others’ body language and signs of comfort or discomfort. 
    • Let’s normalise verbal consent: It might feel awkward to start with but we’re not mind readers and sharing can increase our sense of safety.
    • Negotiate details: Boundaries, intentions and practical details are all important and communication is key.
    • Be prepared to offer after care after sharing an experience with others.
    • If unsure, slow down or stop.
    • We are all on a learning journey: Let’s take care of each other and help to deal with behaviours that are not acceptable.

      

Fires and Queer Spirit festival 2026

Although we understand how important fires have been as part of previous festivals, we realise that this year the risk caused by any fire, no matter how well monitored and tended, is simply to great for us to consider them this year.

That does mean that we have decided that there will not be a central fire and also no sacred fire. Also there will not be any fires/burners in any of the affinity spaces.

Although this will make a difference to the social and connection side of the festival, we are sure you understand that our care for the land and each other leads us to this point. We feel confident however that the festival spirits will guide us to find other ways to connect and socialise.

One way we are thinking to create our social space is to have an a central altar and we invite you to bring decorations if you have space.

Due to the extremely dry grounds at the festival site we are asking everyone attending to commit to and follow this safety information:

Fire safety

  • The ground at the festival site is extremely dry this year and so we must all be vigilant in preventing fires. Please do not have candles, tealights or other types of fires/flames anywhere on site. No camp fires are allowed.

  • Our stewards will perform regular checks to ensure there is at least a 1 m separation between guy lines in the camping areas, to minimise the risk of fire. They will also be on hand if you need any guidance on positioning etc. Please be aware that if you do place your tent somewhere they deem unsafe, they will ask you to move it.

  • We ask that cigarette butts and spent matches are not dropped/left on the ground. Please only put them in metal containers or use the provided sand buckets. Do not put them in any of the recycling points.

  • Please note that no use of fire performance tools such as fire juggling/spinning etc. will be allowed this year.

Cooking

  • Due to the limited means of cooking at the festival this year, please aim to plan your meals with items that can easily be prepared under these extreme weather conditions.

  • Please note that disposable barbecues are not allowed at the festival. For cooking we only allow gas camping appliances, which may only be used according to safety instructions and in the open air, or in properly fitted camper-van/caravan. All sources of heat for cooking must be at least 1 foot (30 cm) off the ground with a metal plate or paving slab underneath the cooker appliance, or on a sturdy camping table.

  • If you are planning on using gas cooking, we recommend you to have a class Class C-rated dry powder fire extinguisher (or a multi-purpose ABC/BC powder) which you can pick up for around £10 (example item) . For live-in vehicles we also suggest you have a fire blanket.

  • All lit cooking appliances must be supervised at all times.
