Campaigns Space

Our Queer Spirit Arising - Actions, Campaigns and Communities.

This twin tent space is curated by Dan Glass, Miqx and L'Orage, each seasoned queer activists. We aim to build a network, linking queer campaigns and issues in a mutually supportive and intersectional style. Our schedule for QSF highlights queer creativity and energy in these areas.

Meet here and share - first meet and greet at 6pm on Thursday. There will be a daily discussion session curated by the Campaigns team at MIDDAY, plus an open SPEAKER'S FORUM at 6pm each evening. Several workshops have been scheduled already - see below for the list, but please check the area schedule during the Festival, as some very interesting extra sessions will happen in this space.

Scheduled Workshops

Crafting

The crafting area will be a welcoming comfortable space to come sit and craft, play a game or chew the fat on geektastic subjects. The space will have a zone for messy crafts and clean area.
The clean space will be carpeted and decorated to get the creative juices flowing.

There will be drawing and painting material. There will be some lovely old hand crank sewing machines for those who wish to bring fabric to create.

Jem's Sauna

Jem's Sauna is a lovingly hand-built mobile sauna based in Bristol, UK and will be open at the festival. Opening times will be displayed at the sauna and we may have certain time slots set aside for particular groups of people to use.

Tribal Voices

The Queer Spirit Team are very excited to welcome the amazing festie crew Tribal Voices to the festival for the first time...

Welcome to Tribal Voices Acoustic music and poetry fireside space. We are a collective of the Wryyrd and Wonderful.  The descendants of Avalon. Of Bards and of Druids. Of Witches, Warlocks, Priests and Priestesses. We are a TAG (totally autonomous group). For over 25 years we have been holding space and hosting fire circles around the Albion Isle.

WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!
COME YE ALL TO THE TRIBAL VOICES FIRE!

Bring your songs and poems and raise your chalices higher”.If ever you wanted to tell a tale, weave a song, or spin a poem, then now is your opportunity.  We are primarily a recording project and we will be filming and recording audio over the weekend. We are aiming to record enough to compile a QUEER SPIRIT CD to keep your QUEER SPIRITS UP “ OO er Missus” over the winter. We have also been challenged with making a promo video, to promote QUEER SPIRIT for future events!

More on Tribal Voices:

Tribal Voices originated from the songs, music and poetry that unexpectedly emerged from the community spirit the road protest movement in the early 90’s created. Starting off as a small recording project capturing, in essence, people’s empathic response to the destruction, the new roads being created. This new rise in community spirit that sprung forth from around the campfires of the Newbury Bypass, Twyford Down and  M11 road protest camps created Tribal Voices 1 & 2 Tapes.  It brought people together in a new way, a way that hadn’t been experienced before.

In 2012 Gaea and Grey were invited to the Synergy Center in London by Steve Peaks, to record a new Tribal Voices album, Urban Emergance. From there, Pony, from SMALL WORLD, invited TRIBAL VOICES to host an acoustic music and poetry fireside space at SMALL WORLD SOLAR FESTIVAL in Kent. TRIBAL VOICES also had a cafe in the MANDALA STAGE in GREEN FUTURES FIELD at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL for a number of years. People crossed fields to come back for our legendary CHAI.

THIS YEAR TRIBAL VOICES HAS BEEN GIVEN THE AMAZING OPPORTUNITY TO HOST OUR VERY OWN FIRE CIRCLE AT QUEER SPIRIT.
