What the F*ck Just Happened? Trump’s Gender Policy Is an Attack on Our Sacred Humanity

What the Fuck Just Happened? Trump’s Gender Policy Is an Attack on Our Sacred Humanity

There’s a deep sickness in a society that tries to legislate the spirit out of people. That’s exactly what Donald Trump’s recent executive order does by defining gender as “genetically assigned at conception.” On its surface, it’s a laughable misunderstanding of biology - because at conception, *everyone* begins as female. But let’s not be fooled by the absurdity. This isn’t just ignorance. It’s a deliberate act of violence against transgender people, two-spirit individuals, and anyone who embodies the sacred truth that gender is far more expansive than chromosomes or genitals.

For those of us who walk a spiritual path - especially queer people who understand the divine balance of masculine and feminine energies - this is more than an attack on identity. It’s an attack on the very essence of what it means to be human. To reduce gender to a binary definition is to deny the sacred duality within all of us: the left and right hand, the yin and yang, the sun and moon. It’s to deny that we are all born with both energies, even if one becomes dominant over time. And for some of us - for two-spirit people, for trans folks, for those who live in the in-between - that balance is something to be honored, not erased.

But instead of honoring this sacred truth, this policy seeks to erase it. And let’s be clear: this isn’t just about transgender rights (though it absolutely is that too). This is also an attack on Indigenous cultures that have long recognized and celebrated two-spirit people as vital members of their communities. For many Native American nations, two-spirit individuals hold spiritual roles as healers, mediators, and keepers of balance. They are seen as embodying both masculine and feminine energies in harmony—a reflection of the divine itself.

By enforcing a rigid binary definition of gender, this law doesn’t just erase trans people - it erases centuries of Indigenous wisdom about what it means to be whole. It’s cultural genocide disguised as policy. And it’s yet another example of how colonization continues to harm Native communities by imposing Western frameworks that have no place in their traditions.

The irony here is almost unbearable. The same people who claim to protect “traditional values” are actively destroying traditions far older than their own narrow worldview. They weaponize biology without understanding it, turning something as sacred as gender into a tool for control. But here’s the thing: you can’t legislate away truth. You can write all the laws you want, but you can’t erase what lives in our spirits.

For those of us who understand divine androgyny - the idea that we all carry both masculine and feminine energies within us - this moment feels like a profound betrayal of our sacred humanity. It’s a reminder that systems built on fear will always try to destroy what they cannot control. And what they cannot control is us: our existence, our truth, our connection to something greater than ourselves.

So where do we go from here? First, we grieve - for those who will be harmed by this policy, for the Indigenous traditions being erased yet again, for the sacred balance being denied. Then we fight - not just with anger but with love for ourselves and each other. Because if there’s one thing they don’t understand about us, it’s this: we are resilient as fuck.

We’ve been here before. We’ve faced erasure before - whether through colonization or legislation or violence - and yet we’re still here. Two-spirit people are still here. Trans people are still here. Queer people are still here. And we will continue to be here because our existence is sacred.

This isn’t just about politics; it’s about spirit. It’s about reclaiming our wholeness in a world that tries to divide us into pieces. It’s about honoring the divine balance within ourselves and each other - even when society refuses to see it.

So fuck their laws and their ignorance and their fear-based bullshit. We know who we are. We know where we come from. And we know that no executive order can take away our truth.

We are sacred beings - every single one of us - and no amount of legislation can change that.
